Etisalat Changes To ‘9 Mobile’   Ninety-six hours after a three-week deadline was given to drop its brand name by Etisalat International, Etisalat Nigeria, Thursday, picked up the gauntlet, announcing it will now trade under the brand name, 9Mobile. The decision to use 9Mobile as the new brand name was taken at the end of a meeting of the telco’s management in Lagos yesterday. The network had debuted with the 0809 number plan in 2008, which may have informed use of the figure 9 in rebranding the network. The rebranded network, 9Mobile, is also expected to drop the domain name, www. etisalat. com.ng Etisalat International of the United Arab Emirates parted ways with its Nigerian partner, Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd, trading as Etisalat Nigeria in the wake of a crisis over a $1.2 billion loan package, which defied solutions. Sean Spicer Resigns As White House Press Secretary After Disagreement With Trump     Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, abruptly resigned on Friday after telling President Donald Trump he vehemently disagreed with his appointment of Anthony Scaramucci, a New York financier, as his new communications director. CBN Recovers, Returns N51.9bn Illegally Deducted From Customers By Banks   The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that it recovered over N51.9bn illegally deducted by commercial banks and returned it to the customers. The spokesman further revealed that the recovery and return of the funds to customers became necessary after series of complaints on illegal deductions from their accounts by commercial banks got to the apex bank. Nigeria, Other Producers Agree To Cut Oil Output   Global oil producers, meeting in Russia Monday, called for stricter adherence to their agreement to cut output, with the inclusion of top African producer Nigeria . The Saudi-led OPEC global oil cartel, along with Russia and other large producers, met in the northwestern city of Saint Petersburg to assess the results of their November agreement to cut output and stem the collapse in oil prices. After a post-agreement initial rebound, oil prices have gone down in recent weeks, falling to below $50 per barrel. In a statement following the meeting, the countries in the monitoring committee said “the oil market is making steady and significant progress towards rebalancing” after being hit by a vast glut in recent years. Cargo Airport: Community Threatens To Release Snakes On Construction Workers In Benue   A community in Benue State has threatened to release snakes to bite construction workers, thus ‘temporarily’ stalling plans to build a cargo airport in the state. The State Government confirmed the threat on Monday, July 24, adding that plans to commence the project on Kilometre 28 along Makurdi-Lafia road, was halted due the demand and threats of the host Nyie community in Guma Local Government Area.
